I think it's because japanese and korean culture has people spending a LOT of time at the office, more time than anywhere else. The workaholic culture is killing the youth smh

I think this is really smart especially when your work culture is so intense that you barely have time off. I guess it's better to see your spouse or partner at work rather than not seen them for weeks or months.

Where I'm from, one of the two would need to resign. No office dating is allowed, corporate wouldn't allow the potential drama.

I believe it's fine as long as they work in different department. At least both still have a little bit privacy when it comes to work. They won't see each others embarrassing moments at work. And won't be put in comparison when it comes to work.

Unless it’s a boss, usually fine. Seems like most of my coworkers are already have partners or married before the job.

If it is mutual and there is chemistry then why not.
Western Nations have made these interactions difficult, men can show an interest in a work colleague but needs to be very cautious.
