You know what? Building more high density residential buildings within the city to make more people live and walk inside the city is the key. When people are living in suburbs which are far away from city, they will definitely continue to drive cars as it saves more than half hour per journey.

I am a London driver and traffic is casued from a bad designed road network with too many traffic lights etc. We had a power cut one day and driving through it during th rush hour, well there wasnt any. it was beautiful it was clear clean and no pollution. Get rid of the traffic lights!

Good video, very informative and encouraging. I suggest dropping the background music. Similar channels like Tom Scott, Geoff Marshall, and Londonist do very well without music. In fact, it’s preferred. This track was particularly annoying.

In Brisbane, Australia the busses there use natural gas instead of diesel as their fuel, reducing emissions and running costs. Brisbane also has a vast array of tunnels for cars, busses and trains underneath the city to help ease congestion from commuters traveling in, out and directly through the city.

When will there be a really big grid lock? We have rush hours and things get worse when there's an accident at a straegic place but the queues dissapate and it gets back to some sort of normality.
But there's more vehicles being sold every day and more people to drive them and more houses so sooner or later the queue won't dissapate. When will that be, where would it be and what would it be like?

i think new business districts should be constructed towards Slough (which will be proximate to Heathrow Airport) or towards Brighton (which will be proximate to Gatwick Airport). Either or a combination of the two or more locations around the M25 that's close to any London airport (Standsted, Luton and South-end) will allow for new planned cities (with adequate transport infrastructure such as multi-lane roads and railways). Central London is really chaotic presently and with the construction of more high-rise buildings, human activity within Greater London especially around Central London will be annoying (hopefully not as annoying as Nigeria's or india's largest Cities - Lagos, New Delhi and Mumbai).

Solution for busses, BRT to be introduced (various options there) and the use of Euro 6 engines Citaro Gs on the busier routes to add capacity and have an increased speed of loading/unloading times, rather than just being addicted to the floored design of the double decker that Great Britain as a whole is too addicted to

Perhaps Autonomous vehicles and more Eco friendly vehicles are not the key to tackling pollution and congestion. I personally think that in a large city like London, using public transport is a fantastic way to tackle both these problems as each person owning their own car and using it for local journeys could a bit of a waste of resources. If people carpooled together, owned a bicycle and used it for local journeys within the city or used the public transport systems like the buses and the tube, the problem of congestion and pollution would automatically be solved.
