One point related to this - Robert Altman's famous comeback movie, The Player, took place in Hollywood, and had dozens of high profile celebrity cameos and walk-ons from stars who simply wanted to appear in a film of his - one sequence was set at a party, and Altman had Sydney Pollock play the host of the party, because all these stars would actually defer to him, and so add to the effect -
