Essentially, sports betting odds tell you how much you can win on a bet. There are three main types of betting odds: American Odds, Fractional Odds and Decimal Odds.

There are also three main ways to bet on sports: the moneyline, the spread and totals (also known as over/under betting).

The moneyline is a straight-up bet on the winner.

The spread is betting that one team will outperform the margin of victory predicted by the sportsbooks.

Totals is purely betting on the total number of points/goals/runs/etc scored in the game.
