I mean supply and demand, if you increase the amount of something there is, the cheaper it should be in theory. problem is that those new houses are going to be bought by banks and then set as an asset for them to use as "equity, " towards having even more substantial buying power. The thing that the government should do, is build houses themselves instead of using the market to build the houses. even if you try to manipulate the housing market, the banks and the ones with enough buying power are going to manipulate the market right back at you. because the thing that drives economics are labor, and the more people retiring means less people in the labor force. this is why the people in power want to try and make it to where you can't retire from a stable income. the market requires labor. The thing that we need to strive for, if we're going to make things less scarce is automation. yes, there are going to be less people working, but the thing is, we can supplement people without jobs from an automation tax.
