I have the Pocket 2, and while the Pocket 3 has slightly better DR and low light, its not yet enough for me to upgrade. For now, the Pocket 2 still serves my purpose. I just share my videos to youtube anyway right now, so I won't be able to share the benefits as much. I'll wait for the Pocket 4 or 5, that way I can get my use out of the Pocket 2.

Looking at both of these and that price difference is huge now. Tough call

Great comparison. I'll definitely do the upgrade. I have the Pocket 2, but really don't use it that much. It's a great camera, but the low light capacity of the 2, causes it not to be used. I want to shoot tids and bits of our everyday life, seeing the kids grow up etc. And with most of our everyday life revolving indoor activity, the step up on that on the 3 makes it a no brainer for me.

By the way. - I don't usually comment on things like this. - But Matt, you really look good and healthy. Well done.

It looks like the idea solution to mobile vloging, one device without the compromise of a camera. Then have a real camera to do the stills stuff.

Good review, pocket 3 image looks leagues better for me but the 2 has the pocketability advantage for sure.

Super helpful, exactly what I wanted to see in a comparison, and footage! Legend. Thank you!

I waited years for this product to come out only to see no real reason to upgrade. The P3 footage is just way too similar to P2 in well-lit daylight scenarios. I was hoping the one-inch sensor would bring in closer to a DSLR look, but it is still just a smartphone alternative.

The 3 has better DR, which really shows in the tougher light conditions, and resolves more detail. They both lost the track in the tracking test. The 3 is clearly crisper and cleaner in lowlight.

But then you can pick up a used good condition 2 for $100-130, while a 3 costs $500.

The perfect review video for me I’m thinking of getting one of these and can’t decide between the pocket two or the pocket three, so this is brilliant, thank you 🙏

I have an original Pocket and it has been a game changer for me, for what I do, which is mainly videos of my Partners traditional dance group at various locations.

I have various other cameras, a Nikon Z6, an Olympus MI ii and a Panasonic camcorder, but the Pocket is my go to, it's 4K is more than good enough for Youtube which is what is used to share the video amongst the girls, and it's portability, stability and the ability to throw it on an extension pole to get clear pictures over a crowd of people is unmatched.

Low light and the lack of zoom are it's bad points, but then I'll use the Nikon or the camcorder, but then I've got to use a tripod and find a decent spot etc.

The Pocket 3, with it's improvements is a no brainer, if DJI made a version of this that sits in the middle between the 'Pocket' and the 'Ronin 4', with a built in gimbal, a M43 sensor and small interchangeable lenses, they'd wipe the competition off the floor.

I’m in the market for both - but the 2 is so cheap right now with the whole creator bundle included - found one for $250 - $400 less than the 3 - now I’m asking is this worth a 400 upgrade

I've been using the Sony FDR X3000 & a series of GoPro, but might consider the Osmo Pocket 2/3 just cause it's so lowkey and practical

I'm going on a 6 week long trip next year to south korea and Japan and wanting to get a decent camera to keep a record of my time there. I've never really recorded like that before so I'm pretty settled on getting a dji pocket because I love how discrete and portable it is. I do absolutely love the new design and upgrades of the pocket 3, but I can't afford it unfortunately so I'm looking to pick up a pocket 2 on ebay if I can. Thank you for the great video though! I do still love the footage of the pocket 2 :)

I like you didn’t edit out your shot on goal but used it to test the DJI care program, good on you….

pocket 2 has a more cinematic vintage vibe look imo but the features of the 3 and improvements do make a difference

Hi Matt, thank you for this review. I wonder, would it be worth doing Osmo 1, 2, 3 side by side footage please?
I still love my Osmo pocket 1

Thanks for the comprehensive review. Well done. One question: How would the Pocket 3, 4K video look on a wide screen TV, (a) very good, (b) ok, or (c) don't bother?

I just bought a GoPro hero 12 and I love it. I was considering getting a gimbal, but the pocket 2 can be had now for about twice the price of the gimbal. Any thoughts on whether you think the pocket 2 is worth it in 2024? It’s under $300 now and readily available. I’m mostly going to use it alongside my hero 12, but for lower light conditions. I know the pocket three has great low light capability, but it looks like the pocket two is no slouch in low light. I would love your thoughts. Do you think it’s worth it in 2024 since it’s under $300 now?
