GOP-led states push to restrict gender-affirming care for trans youth

Lawmakers in Iowa passed a ban on gender-affirming care for minors, following legislators in Arkansas passing their own bill making it easier to sue doctors who provide treatment to people under 18. NBC’s Vaughn Hillyard reports on why right-wing voices are calling for an end to transgender care across the country.

As a Democrat, I am against allowing children to get gender-affirming surgery for the same reason we do not legally children to drive, consent, drop out of school, get tattoos, or buy tobacco and alcohol before a certain age. They are too young to make an irreversible life-changing decision, this surgery should be restricted to adults only (ages 18 and older).

You mean they push to restrict intrusive surgeries that cannot be reversed for children not yet old enough to make such decisions. Yes they do. Thankfully someone cares enough about these kids do not let them make decisions that will affect the rest of their lives as 10 year olds.

It was Ridiculous then and it's Ridiculous Nowadays you have sit and watch cartoons with you children every episode with these new cartoons.... Because sometimes they'll wait 5 6 episodes in to sneak in that rainbow stuff... In the hopes that straight parents will have got a false sense of security by then... Best just to let'em watch pre 2000's cartoons reruns if you got other stuff to do

Elizabeth goes to my school and she is a genius. It breaks my heart seeing how people treat her to her face and behind her back, I can’t talk for her but I’m sure if we could make her feel as comfortable with herself as possible we all could be happier and kinder.
