This video terribly mischaracterizes planned economies in that it only uses a centrally planned economy as an example for planned economic systems and that it describes the distribution of a good as distributing it in precisely equal parts. That’s nonsense. Using the example from the video, in a planned economy, the planning authority (which doesn’t have to be the government) wouldn’t break up the sock monkeys into equal parts to distribute to consumers equally; it would instead allocate the means of production to produce more sock monkeys to meet the demand of society.
