Dawah For Dollars - Should Da'ees Get Paid?

As an imam with a wife and 6 kids, with my workload at the masjid, i can say it would be nearly impossible for me to have another job and devote myself to leading all the prayers, teaching, doing dawah and the rest of the needs of the community.

When people ask me " Oh, you're an Imam, but what do you actually do (for earnings)?" I wish they understood that i am working harder than any other job I've had and i am constantly on call.

Wages or not, intentions can be corrupted. I dont think there is any higher chance of your intention being off if you are getting a wage for doing work of deen. Could even be more likely that when you are doing it "purely for Allah's sake", this gives you ujb/self amazement and could consequently affect your intention.

With any work of deen, i 100% think we need to sponsor those involved. Those who say otherwise have probably never devoted themselves to the work and dont realize how just editing a video is a task in itself.

Yes absolutely! I think we can’t pay them enough considering all the good they do! It is wonderful to see many brothers today are able to argue and combat the misinformation being spread about Islam. And I am 100% sure there are brilliant brothers out there who would do great work but cannot afford to spend all the time it requires cause they are busy with their 9 to 5 job. I would even go as far as to say instead of building humongous and expensive masajid we should invest in educating and supporting our talented duaat.

Da'wah is also a form of dean for god. So giving money it is more like a gift and not a pay. Dean for god couldn't be compared to money.

I believe qualified scholars should nominate and select da'ees not the public. As we have seen, the public gravitated towards dawah that appeals to "cool moments" and "epic debate" instead of based on knowledge and merit. The deen isn't a democracy.

The issue is everyone is becoming douaat, online daoua needs to be controlled, anyone can pretend to be chaick and start collecting money, it is a big issue. I wish all douat like you, I will support them with no hesitation
