This 1.00 minute clip sums up the fantasy and failure of many men, one day you wake up and you are suddenly old...your dreams never achieved and you realize you wasted your life...living in a illusion of a world and a life that would never be. So articulate and powerful ( btw - I believe this is Tom Cruises best performance ever).

He might be evil but at least he's trying to wake max up. Trying to help him to understand that you have to take risks ever once in a while. Your dreams and goals, it takes time and actual action. No one said that taking risks was easy. You might want the risk but it might lead you to disaster or disappointed, but at least you tried and you learned and you move on to the next goal or dream.

i love how he emphasizes the line "suddenly you are old" really points out what a vast majority of us are really like, we say we will do this and do that, but in the end, we just sit around, wasting time and life.

I first saw this movie 19 years ago and this speech just now hits me like a freight train. Now I'm 38 and I see that Vincent was talking to me. I can't believe it's taken me this long to realize it and so many wasted years have gone by and I can't get those years back, no matter what. Hopefully I'll get out of this soon or I have to quit this life for good.

Darn, this scene was brutal, and there’s no action, fighting, gunshots or punches being thrown, it’s just Vincent and Max driving to their next destination, while Vincent is speaking stone hard facts about reality. The reality being that most people, like Max, are just waiting around wasting their time, with their “dreams” never being fulfilled as they are hypnotized by how society expects them to behave instead of taking the leap of faith that’ll change the course of their lives. Ironically, a cold-hearted assassin is giving a taxi cab driver life lessons that are more relevant and life changing than most motivational or educational videos that are out there.
