Battlefield 1 Unrealistic? Game Realism vs Game Fun

It would be cool if they included a"realistic" mode. You can only pick from the standard issue weapons and gear from your faction.

Battlefield lives from creating a relative realism, Battlefield 1 fails this entirely for the period its set in.

Battlefield 1 looks great it might not be historically accurate but who gives a single fuck, you don't play game to learn history (if you do sorry) you play game to have fun there is nothing fun about getting spawn killed 6 times in a row trying to leave your trench/spawn (looking at you verdun) so i think that they made the perfect decision with this game.

You are right, Battlefield 1 IS unrealistic, but the Rolls Royce Armoured Car could in fact go up to 72 kph! Believe it or not!

It feels like the developers got scared about using genuine WW1 weapons and just defaulted to a standard shooter type game. After all, these games are about making money, not authenticity. And the reality is 12 year olds don't want bolt action rifles, they want pow pow kablam jump leap roll boom!!! This game could have broken the mould. But instead it's just another war game. Right down to the colourful HUD icons. It doesn't feel like WW1. It doesn't even feel like WW2. Both those wars were muddy, miserable and brutal. This feels like it was designed to convert kiddies from the COD franchise.

It's not that I want ultra realism in BF1, it's just I wish they would stray a little bit from the standard Battlefield gameplay
format. Making it a bit slower paced and more tactical would be nice, rather than just BF4 with a WW1 mod....

The word you're looking for is authenticity. No game is realistic (unless it's like Arma or something).

Light tank(Renault Ft-17): 6 Km/h
Medium Tank(Mark IV): 5 Km/h
Heavy Tank(A7V Sturmpanzerwagen): 8 Km/h

Do you see how fast the A7V travels? ( Actually all the vehicles move very slow still.. )
