In today's video we will cover 5 reasons I sold my 2020 Ducati Panigale V2 to purchase a 2022 Husqvarna 701sm. There are many differences between supermoto and supersport motorcycles that make supermotos a superior choice for many riders. We will discuss ergonomics, handling, repair cost, track riding and the idea of expanding rider experience. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment below and I will be sure to answer them! Thanks for checking out my video.

I jumped from a 2019 MT-09 to the 2021 701 SM... and it's plenty fast, very stable even at 120mph. The stock suspension and tires are excellent. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the switch, I feel zero urge for more power even at the track. My national champ superbike instructor took it for a spin and he was highly impressed by the handling. Not seeing myself buying a heavier bike again.

Man, I haven’t been to your channel in a few years now, since you first got your Ducati. Channel has really grown. I’m actually considering one of these Husky’s now… that or getting street tires for my 2023 TE150

Enjoyed your video, I share many of your reasons and just bought a 690 SMC R myself.

Really wish I had discovered your channel sooner. I find I have a lot of things in common with you as a motorcycle rider. Not very skilled or experienced, and short too.

Appreciate your honest, humble and transparent approach to talking about your skill level.

Looking forward to seeing your progress as a rider. :)

Your 701 is a great choice! After upgrading your air intake, exhaust, and ECU, the power will truly blow you away! I used to only ride sport bikes while living in Southern CA, but after moving to a remote area of CO, I prefer off-road adventures, and only ride on the street to get to my favorite trails. I recently purchased a 2023 KTM 350 EXC-F and upgraded exhaust, airbox, and the ECU, now it performs like my 500 EXC used to. I think we all go through the sports bike phase, but the risks of speeding tickets, getting killed from riding too fast with others is too high. You mentioned the initial cost of a high-end sport bike, plus expensive upgrades, maintenance, and uncomfortable riding position, so you made a great choice! Enjoy this awesome new bike and share videos of all your upgrades!

I just bought a ktm smc 690r after years of amazing naked bikes and sports bikes. When I compare it to my Tuono v4r, Ducati s4r, Mille 1000r, cbr1000rr, triumph speed triple S I can honest say this bike is the most fun I have ever had riding.
I fit into the class of rider you mentioned that evolve to a super moto and I am so happy I made the move. I can say that every bar your personal opinion for track sits true for me also. I am experienced track rider, so on a fast track I would prefer a sports bike to go fast, but to have fun I would still choose the ktm. To that point I have been on track with Wayne Gardiner and Kevin Magee here in Australia ( both ex 500cc gp riders) and Kevin rides a super moto as his preferred track bike. FYI Magee was 500cc world championship runner up

Ive just had my euro5 remapped last week with my exhaust on and air filter and gave it a good few more horsepower across the full rev range. Especially low down where its needed. Love it!

Absolutely bang on. I had a Gixxer 750, loved it, but it wasn’t comfortable below 130k because of the ergonomics. I traded it for a KTM 530 XCRW. Around town the dirt bike is a scalpel, super flickable, weighs less than 250 lbs, and will still do 100 miles an hr with dirtbike gearing. I bought an Indian FTR 1200, which is basically a dirtbike on steroids :) this guy is 100% correct. I miss my sport bike sometimes, but love my KTM all of the time. The Indian so far has been incredible too.

I love your 701! I just looked at this bike last week! I’m only 5’8 and small. I didn’t like that I couldn’t flat foot it. I know I could have lowered suspension etc. but I looked over and saw a Streetfighter V2. I sat on it and I was sold! Maybe I’ll have a SuperMoto someday, but I really love the Streetfighter. I love the colors of your 701! Congrats! Good decision! Soo much fun!! 😊🌟🔥🤟🏼🎉

Nice. I'd love to try this bike. I have a Hypermotard 950 SP. I love it, and the motor is so amazing. It's great for my local paved mountain trails(Oregon). They're narrow, tight, twisty, paved tracks in the forest. Your bike is pretty much the very best bike for pmt's.

Hi.
I totally agree with you, I have done the same.
changed Panigale v2 to supermotard.
price loss on panigale is big, cheaper to owning a supermotoard and it more fun.
keep up the good videos.
Many greetings from Norway.

I've been riding a 450cc dirtbike since I was around 17, been riding in general since 11 or so. I dreamed of a CBR1000rr for years. I finally got the chance to test one out. A literal rocketship to say the least. But didn't fall in love 2010 low miles clean spec. Just couldn't do it, no fear just no love. I test drove a more beat up Yamaha WR450 Supermoto with Michelin semi slicks. I had never felt more of a connection in terms of feel cornering and grip that I've never felt in any machine ever. It is nimble in ways you couldn't imagine.. power is there in the street as long as no highway runs. But the slingshot torque 450s have on the road combined with extreme flickability is something that has to be felt to understand.

I have zero regrets owning the 701 Supermoto too. It's such a fun and playful bike, the best all-rounder imo.
My biggest concern is how long I will keep my licence for 😅.
Bikes I've owned: MT09, MT07, DRZ400SM, WR450, Z125, 675 Street Triple & ZX6R

I had the same progression and reasons, eventually arriving at the KTM 690smc. It was amazing until I took it to the supermoto track. I quickly transitioned to a real 450cc race bike and superminis. That's when my skills and speed truly improved.

Thank you for this video, I was thinking to buy Streetfighter v2, but checking 701, and looks like that would be right choice

You made very accurate points, I'm thinking about switching to a supermoto for the same exact reasons. I've got a ninja 636 2019 which I love, and I went to the track a few times this year, but it relly is very expensive. Also for what it's capable of doing this bike it's a waste to use it on the street... I'm really tempted by the 701
