In this video Heimler walks you through Unit 1 Topic 5 of the AP Government curriculum. During the ratification debates for the U.S. Constitution, many compromises were required to create buy-in for the various factions. The main compromises you need to know for this course are as follows: the Great Compromise, the electoral college, the Three-Fifths Compromise, and the compromise on the importation of enslaved people.

Additionally, the debates that animated the Constitutional Convention still frame our debates today, as they did for example, with the USA PATRIOT ACT in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, and the No Child Left Behind Act in 2001.

Thank you for having this channel available. My history teacher isn't the best at teaching and all he really does is have us write the FRQ's and take quizzes but doesn't really teach us. I was getting averages of 60's on his tests but now its gone up to averages of 90's and that's while I'm reviewing 2-3 units BEHIND the one I'm currently on. I hope this will help me on the actual AP test in May, but I'm nervous upon finding out people usually take this between 11th and 12th grade. I'm 9th.

constitutional convention: drafted constitution
- great compromise: va plan v new jersey plan, house of reps is based on population, senate is two ppl each
- electoral college: electors put pres to office
- 3/5 compromise
- congress or state conventions propose amendments and 3/4 states accept

Im going to have to use this series as a replacement for my ap gov teacher because all he does is give us word searches and talk about his failed love life…

Heimler you helped me get a 4 on APWH and I have faith this will help with AP Gov as well. Thank you for making these videos (despite their lack of popularity) even though history isn't my favorite. More of a STEM guy :D
