You don't need a voltage step down transformer for a laptop charger. All chargers nowadays support a wide range of voltages, usually from 100-250v AC so they'll work anywhere. Also keep in mind that Australia uses 240v *50Hz, * whereas many American devices are expecting *60Hz.* Most voltage transformers cannot convert frequency, and the different frequency may cause problems with some appliances.

Usually, that is incorrect. Yes. Voltages change between different regions, but for (example) laptops, the brick that is attached to the charging cable is (usually) acceptable to most voltage varients. This is also the reason why you can change the cable from the brick to the wall to accommodate for different plug styles.
This also works with most phone chargers.
Always look on the input section of the charger to see which variance of Voltages it is acceptable to.

Your laptop does not need a stepdown converter, you ding-dong.

if you're like me and your phone came with a European plug instead of NA, check the voltage that the power cube accepts to determine if I need a step down converter.

Every laptop I've had in the last 15-20 years can take 100-240v, so chances are you don't need a transformer.

Modern portable electronics like Mac laptops and iPhones, iPads are dual voltage.

Almost all modern electronics is multi-voltage. With converters one should check they are good for electronics and not just for things like hair dryers.

However, the adapter you showed is a death trap. There are safe adapters.

Plese remove or change, this is incorrect and confuses people. Yes some devices may need a converter, but you dont for a laptop, iPad, Phone (i.e. 99% of what you travel with)
