The entire Museum had a yearly budget of R$330, 000. That is about 80, 000 dollars and less than what one single senator makes in the same period of time. Now tell me how could they have paid for maintenance and a nice fire prevention system?

To be clear this wasn't an "accident" this was gross negligence. Not putting fire protections in a building housing priceless artifacts from around the world. Someone needs to be held accountable or no lessons will be learned from this. Such a tragic loss for history and science.
