a few reasons I can see why this is happening:
1) roblox recommendation system is really geared towards the games that have alot of gamepasses, there is even a catagory for games with subscriptions.
2) the developers trying to keep up with the new weekly updates has been either, the best or worst choice they have made, as they have had to hire a lot of new devs to keep up with the constant updates.
3) new player grinding can be overwhelming at times, so below/paradoxium might add options for newer players to skip the grinding, personally I don't like giving new players a way to skip the grind, but it is a possibility as many towers are locked behind hours of gameplay, and a payed alternative can be bought alot if priced right

I hate that tds ended up like this but it’s not TDS’s fault since the roblox pay system is pretty bad and they have a big developer studio to pay so there really is no other option.

I have a lot of mixed opinions about this, considering that I was defending them months ago, listen I believe that Roblox games need to be cash grabs to some extent because they are taxed heavily by Roblox. In TDS this year they managed to crank out an update almost every single week so far, which is very impressive. I think that was mainly possible because of their constant addition of plushies and micro transactions. But I also have to note that if you were to play any game on steam or Xbox or PlayStation, you will have a hard time finding lots of games that proudly boast about micro transactions. It’s a very Roblox thing to do and at this point to determine if it’s out of greed or necessity, we would have to be on the paradoxum team. They certainly needed more money this year to crank out that many updates and I’m fine with it as long as micro transactions aren’t every single update they’re making. Hopefully they’ve added enough stuff this year so 2025 they can focus on more content updates.

ngl the monetization for the game is really not that bad, its just cosmetics and other perks that arent necessary at all like vip or the spin wheel. you dont have to pay money to progress neither, since its relatively easy to just grind xp and currency for towers (tho hardcore grinding does take way too long but theyre most likely working to change that anyways so). there are some things that are paywalled that shouldnt (most notably being able to pick a specific map which is genuinely stupid that its exclusive to vip members or private servers, even fucking tb has that for free LMAOOO) but other than that the monetization is generally fine especially considering that there are now A LOT of devs to be paid. the real issue with the game is the gameplay, content, and presentation that all need huge improvement

I think tds has gotten a bit better than it was a year ago. Skin crates are now obtainable for free now. You used to only be able to get one deluxe crate for free a year ago so it’s progress

First, you criticize for the sake of criticizing and bashing rather than trying to suggest changes or give feedback.

Next, you completely ignored the fact that they reduced gamepass prices sometime in mid 2024 due to community feedback. It seems like you're just focusing on 1 part of the picture and not even looking at the counterarguments.

Third, a cashgrab game is a game that exists ONLY to take your money and not improve. Tell me, if TDS WAS a cashgrab, why are they spending a lot of time looking for feedback, developing statistics to help them analyze data, rework modes and towers to make the game better? And lastly, why are they consistently pumping out weekly updates that 95% of the time are free? I don't see the logic here.

Gamepasses - Valid, but the majority of them are literally useless. Only good ones are gatling, mercenary base and engi. You're better off grinding for everything else, and even then I'd argue that grinding is so much better than spending robux on these.

PS99 comparison - proved my point that ps99, despite having LESS gamepasses and no subscription still costs more than tds. not to mention that you can't even get any of those gamepasses for free. At least in TDS you can grind for them, in PS99 it's either spend or leave the game because you won't be able to get the buffs.

Spinny Wheel - not really a big deal. People who use this to criticize the game are so obviously hating on the game and don't have other valid reasons to criticize the game. You won't even be using it a lot of the time, and there's nothing the devs can do without getting hated on when it comes to this feature. They obviously can't nerf it otherwise they'll be called greedy and cheap. If they keep it the same then people will still criticize it for being useless, and if they buff it then it's suddenly a p2w feature and they're "prioritizing paid updates over actual content". It's a lose-lose, so it's best to just keep it as is.

Demoman and 600 coins - probably a mistake, and nothing too big. Kinda you being cheap cuz demoman costs like 200 or something to buy, which you can get from one game of easy.

Starter Bundle - every game has a starter bundle. It's literally normal, not a sign that the game is a cashgrab.

Revive Tickets - i'll give you that one

Spin Tickets - ties in to my spinny wheel point.

Timescale Tickets - GOD, the amount of times I've seen whiny babies complain about tickets being too hard to obtain or being paid is INSANE. You literally get them for free by just logging in, playing games and completing challenges.

Quests and refilling - you're better off just waiting, and I don't see anybody using this feature at all. Below said it himself that if there isn't a way to profit off a feature one way or another, it's simply not worth the time and resources.

Mission skip - Most missions can be completed in less than 4 hours of gametime, and assuming you play for 1 hour a day, that's nearly 2 missions every week. Yeah, the feature is not even worth it. It's just a quick way to get out of it. Missions are catered towards end game players, so obviously they won't pay real money just to lose out on content and replayability just for a skin.

Credits - Again, they aren't even worth it and were there from the very start. Every game has these, and it would be stupid not to include them. They also SUPPORT FUTURE DEVELOPMENT, they're meant for people who really like the game and want to support the devs. And since you decided to compare with btd6, i can say btd6 is a cashgrab now because it literally costs money to play. Yeah, BTD6 is a cashgrab because it costs money to play, fight me.

Map override - are 8 maps not enough for you? There's no noticeable difference apart from insane maps which only strat youtubers play, it doesn't matter at all. And I'm fine with this, because vip was useless b4 the override update and now you're actually getting your money's worth with a little convenient thing that you can use.

VIP voting - it literally only boosts votes by 2x. Don't see a problem with it.

challenge maps - okay I suppose? You guys were complaining that there's no replayable content, and now you have it...

Towers with no robux option - brawler and trapper have no robux option, you have to buy coins or gems in order to get them, and its so much easier to grind for them. Again, the thing with TDS gamepasses is that a lot of them are either not really worth the cash or just cosmetic.


Gamemode reworks - "content wise they dont add that much" the fallen revamp added a crap ton, I don't see the problem.

Admin gamepass - YOU HAD EVERY CHANCE TO SUGGEST A NEW IDEA. I know damn well that you went after corso, meaning you clearly heard of the admin gamepass and you didn't even suggest a solution. This ties to my other point that you criticize for the sake of criticizing and not to help the game become better.


Thumbnails - before I start, I just want to say that when there's something to compliment, you won't compliment it. But when there's something to CRITICIZE, you'll do it. For thumbnails, we got a few dozen good ones in a row like the fallen revamp or merc base thumbnail. I doubt you even paid attention to those and just shrugged them off, because that's what you do. You criticize when you can and ignore when they do things correctly.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE HOW PEOPLE BRING THIS UP. Yes, the thumbnails are worse but as time goes on I actually understand it more and more. First off, I'm 99% sure that it's just a meme or they're just testing out new thumbnail features. It's no secret that below loves experimenting with TDS when it comes to basically everything. So that's why there's different thumbnail styles.



100% of people who say "TDS is a cashgrab" just can't provide logical reasoning and factual evidence, they all bring up the same points which are very flawed and easily disproven. And when you DO disprove them, they call you a TDS glazer and laugh at you, so there's literally no winning if you're trying to provide a counter argument.

Like a year ago TDSs cartoony style was good and not overdone but now its just icky, I knew something weird was gonna happen when they made the windows in the military base rework

Good points are made, but i fell like calling it a cashgrab is stretching it. The game is still quality and actually good even if you pay for anything.

Monetization is tame enough, though paywalling QoL features Like autoskip and chossing maps behind VIP is questionable, if the game really was a cashgrab then they would be soukd separately at same price as VIP.

The point i wanna make is, the devs are probably (hoepfully atleast) focusing on quality first, payment later. Its not as cashgraby as petsim, where it seems like the point of the updates are to add new egss to gamble with, and maybe a new world for you to grind in.

How can you compare TDS with Pet Sim? Almost everything in TDS can be obtained for free and that’s most definitely not the case for Pet Sim.

Your going to not care about it the next video. Why does it even matter at this point, you still like the game, and even if it does have some genuine flaws (more specifically a need for better grind + more end-game material), I don’t believe this game is going to ever fall into a dark phase at all, and has been doing a lot better compared to what it once was a few years ago.

And you should not compare TDS with pet Sim 99 because pet Sim 99 all those game passes you cannot get without buying it with Robux. The game passes in TDS. You can get originally without game passes so my opinion tds is not a cash grab

this is honestly a good point to make but i dont realy see the issue with gamepasses here scince most stuff here is still entirely optional and you could just grind for most of these wich inst even that hard and some of it realy dosent matter like the skin packs, VIP, emotes

what i do have a problem is having the grind for coins and gems be kinda just terrible, hardcore is some of the least fun in TDS and its super outdated and grinding coins just takes too long

the core game itself its still fun to play in my opinion i dont have much to complain besides the grind that sucks especialy for golden towers along with hardcore towers

also to put into perspective here from what ive seen, even buying like a 3000 Robux gamespass is like just handing the whole dev team just 12 bucks (i could be very wrong here and this could be lower) scince roblox steals so much from the devs normaly so i can kinda understand the large amount of monetization given how roblox forces devs to kinda be overly greedy especialy if its a whole team of people

also the thing with thumbnails, i dont like them either but i think it realy is just kinda of a waste of money and time to make an amazing piece of art for something so small as a normal mode rebalance

dissagre with me all you want, this is just my take on it, personaly i dont see that much of a problem
