I used to take my dog metal detecting with me. He got so good at finding money underground i didnt need the dectector any more. Benny was the best dog. He could find anything if you showed him a picture of it. Thanks for the show!

Take a small tarp with you to put the dug up dirt on so when you fill in the hole it looks much better. remember appearance can make or break access to locations to dig Also when you dig the plug dig a half circle and roll back the plug leaving the grass attached so it fits right back in

To get a idea of how your metal detector works, its a good idea to run a "bench test". Which is basically sitting at a table, that has few metal objects in it, and put a range of metal objects from tin to gold, that way you can begin to recognize the tones of your metal detector. Thanks, David, for all your work.

Dave, I have learned so much from you over the years....and I've been metal detecting for a while...I have a Minelab and a White's detector with mounted Sun Ray target probe pin pointers on each machine....and in my opinion, there is no better digging tool for metal detecting than a Leshe brand digger! I have smaller Leshe's and also the exact same Leshe "artifact shovel" you are using! Cheers, and good hunting!

Great video! I couldn’t wait to see what you would get every time you dug a plug up. Cool hobby.

I know this is 4 years too late, but I still use the AT Pro. Great little detector. I've found a lot with it.

Hey Dave, both "Two Toes" and "Ask Jeff Williams" have a ton of vids on metal detecting and using metal detectors (ground balancing, etc). Jeff Williams is kinda nuts, but entertaining, and the guy has probably forgotten more about geology than most of us will ever know. Might help you get a bit of a head start.

I bought a detector about 10+ years ago from a radio shack holiday sale. Real simple operation. Probably 30-40 dollars. I inadvertently became good at finding my relatives and whoever elses property stakes. This past couple videos gave me the bug to get a new one. And see if i can get the old one working again. The 9v connector came loose on one of the sides. It takes 2.

Great detector Dave. I have an old analog Whites I use. Don't get to get out much anymore for various reasons but I might just have to dig it out and get back in the habit.

Dave, now you’re talking my language. Been detecting for 11 years. The things I’ve unearthed here on Long Island Ny would blow your mind!

JMO. Get you a couple of those 99 cent nail bags from wally world or lowes or somewhere and use those to deposit your small finds in as soon as you get it dug up and don't linger in the spot to look it over. Get your hole covered up and quickly move along to your next potential spot. You can look over and cull your finds at home in privacy and the muddy nail bag can go in the washing machine if need be. (Or just dried out and brushed off) Good Luck
