My heart goes out to Tim's wife, who also lost her son in the same accident.

Ran into him at a truckstop in Kansas a few years before he died. Im not into storm chasing, but was interested in what he was doing, and he took the time to show me and be friendly. Seemed like a nice guy.

I would occasionally youtube tornado videos and come across him in them, now and then. Was sad to learn he had died.

Tim was a very brave man. God bless him.

I like how some have said that this storm did something that no storm had ever done in that it backtracked and caught the chasers by surprise... No lessons learned, just a harsh reminder that you can't predict everything. Even the smartest storm chaser can get killed. Tragic? Absolutely.

I live in rural areas that refuse to use tax payers money to pave roads. These men should not have died to this crap, please pave dirt roads, so many accidents happen on dirt roads it's not even funny.

people who think he survived if he had a truck are wrong, trucks are the worse, too high, wind goes underneath more easily and lift the truck right away, the problem was the tires on the car, a 2.4 cobalt is on low profile tires 17inches wheels, used low profile tires are awful on every bad weather, if he had snow/mud things could have been different, even the best awd car is useless without good mud tires, chasing tornadoes without good tires is never a good idea

Tim, Paul, and we're coming up on 10 years since you were taken from us. It's still unbelievable. You will forever be missed, but also forever appreciated. Thank you so much for all your scientific contributions, your countless hours sacrificed in pursuit, your generosity and kindness to others.
Sending love to their families and friends...💐

Why are you chasing f4-f5 tornadoes in a 2800lb cobalt??? That floors me...

The data that Tim collected has saved countless of lives. Tim and his crew are heroes who pushed boundaries by risking their lives to save others. Reno tornado was a big one that will remain history alongside the 1997 Jarrell Tornado.

One of the problems in storm chasing is a weakness of the human eye to judge objects that are moving at distance. Without reference to speed or the geography of the area - a Tornado could be on top of you in 45 seconds instead of the 3 minutes you thought you had.  If you are local to the area - you might recognize a power pole antenna bursting and might know how close that road is to you etc..

The front of Tornadoes often obscure the Tornado itself.  Hail and very heavy rain. These guys are heroes though. The research that they have conducted has revolutionized predicting storms of that size and especially warning times in rural communities.

This made me so sad. He was so good at tracking tornadoes and warning people. Thank you for all you did for us, all three of you. Blessings to the families

1:21 "Tim is the safest of any storm chaser there is..."
I'm so glad Skip Talbot spoke up about this because I know I've been thinking the same thing for years. Tim got very close to tornadoes. His passing along with his son, and Carl were tragic, but I never understood the need to act like they never got close to tornadoes in the past. I know this is years late, but since the 10 year anniversary is coming up, I've been rewatching all these old videos and I still feel the same way today as I did when it happened.

I'm a YouTube tornado video junkie and this dude was a legend. Can't believe I didn't hear about this sooner. RIP to him and the other two victims. Thank you.
