the proportionate mortality and risk section just jacked me up. I absolutely thought the opposite. I keep picturing 50% in one city is still the same risk as 50% in another city. Doesn't matter the numbers, it's the same risk when it comes to the exposure.

I have a problem with life. Please help. Check out MMR (maternity mortality ratio), the way it is calculated is very different than what you would expect: maternal deaths per 100, 000 live births.
If the mother had a still born and died, then it is nothing. Well it is not count as maternity death because the baby needs to be alive to qualify. What the hell? Why not using case fatality rate to calculate?

In the Proportionate Mortality formula, in the denominator, when it says, "total deaths, " is that referring to the number of people who died (in general) in a specific year? *given a certain population of course

CASE fatality rate is why Im here. THIS is the number people need to know. The others are misleading. Sure, you can say XX number of men 30-40 died from heart disease, but that has MANY factors involved. Time span, how many people GOT heart disease at all, co-morbidities, and so on.
