Not to discredit Janet on her experience, but the thing is...the Joe Jackson she interacted with while she was young/growing up wasn't the same Joe that was raising/abusing his first batch of kids. By the time Janet came along, Joe was probably 'tired' of the beatings and whatnot. That doesn't mean he wasn't still a disciplinarian, but by that time he had slowed down.

All I can think about was that moment from "The American Dream" movie where he was gonna beat Michael and/or Marlon when he found a towel by the pool late at night, but Katherine told him "I'M TIRED OF THE BEATINGS! NO MORE!!!!"

Sure, Janet can understand the purpose in the 'tough love', but I'm sure the likes of Jackie, Michael, Marlon, LaToya, Rebe, Tito...they had to endure the most mental and physical suffering. I know from books and interviews in their later years, they realize the 'madness' behind Joe's 'methods.' However, that stuff sticks with you from childhood to adulthood. Doesn't matter how rich you get; those scars and traumatizing moments never go away.

Regardless, we should give Joe credit for having 11 kids AND RAISING 11 kids! He knew that young people in their area growing up were either in gangs, jail or murdered but he didn't want his children to go through any of that. So in a way I salute him, but I do feel bad for those poor kids who became damaged adults in some ways.

I went to visit that house when I was in Chicago back in November. Was like a 45min drive but yeah it was a pretty small house. And Vlad said 2000 sq feet. Nah. Looked more like maybe 800sq ft
