Ingenious fillet knife design by CRKT

This design is well over 100 years old.
The Marbles Company produced a sweet folder in around 1917 which used this exact principle. It was called the Safety knife and they had a similar design on an axe that they produced.
The nice thing about this design in a folding knife is not only are you able to have a blade that is longer than the handle, but it has a fool proof lockup without any springs.
The modern Marble knives are made in China when the original company went out of business and the name was purchased but the quality was abandoned.

Man I love CRKT. You get what you pay for and often more but damn do they get expensive.

Perfect but a little hard to wash. Would be definitely be amazing if you had it in a tackle box or something of the sort

That is slick, but I prefer a fixed blade for anything to do with meat(for ease of cleaning)

I have a cool hunting knife that has the same type of system and the same type of extended lock for the extended blade! Pretty cool knife! Plus, CRKT is one of my favorites!

I had something like that as a fishing knife. Storage wise this was pretty nice

This is a great idea in theory, but in practice, I'd be too worried about cleanliness to use it except in a pinch. More something I'd throw in the bottom of a tackle box and only use if I'd forgotten to bring proper kit.

Hahahahah only CKRT could take a joke and then turn it into an actual knife someone might actually buy. I hope the company picks back up and starts making more stuff in the US

I saw a knife on Amazon with a system like this. It was marketed as a folding hunting knife for about $20. It was a neat little thing but I decided not to get it since it was probably some cheap China crap.
