I document haunted and historic locations out here in California USA. It always amazes me when people out there stay in places that were built so long ago. When you said it was built in 1503 I was blown away. Out here we stay in places that were built in 1911 and consider them old lol. You guys smash us when it comes to historic locations. Great stuff Paul. Absolutely amazing.

We stayed there 5 years ago in Catherine's room. I heard a cat meowing when I told the staff they said there was the ghost of a cat. And I loved our stay there too.

Ooh I hope you get back to York again soon. I’ve been in the Golden Fleece a few times for drinks as we live quite local. Also got some great photos of the shambles in the rain when it was deserted late at night.

Lovely and light, the shower was bigger that I thought it was going to be as well.
The breakfast looked so nice, very good price.
They kitted out the room really good. The colour was good too. Looked like a very popular place, which is nice to see. That tells you everything. Thanks Paul.

A very creepy, atmospheric film style reminded me of F.W Murnau's Nosferatu from 1922, loved it! So glad you reviewed this spooky pub, it's so charming and the history fascinating. Loved the room, beautifully decorated and I loved the furniture, overall characterful and in keeping with the building, brilliant little fridge! En suite was really great, some conflicting patterns (but that's just cosmetic foibles, my own taste) lovely shower. I think even if you threw the ghostly child out of the window he'd come back, I'd be more frightened of James Bond he scares the ' Living Daylights' out of me (groan 😂) Price not too bad for when you went Paul and the brekkie is a bargain. I looked at this hotel earlier this year and the price was pretty good so as you intimated prices fluctuate. Such an interesting and spooky, fun review 😊 x

Your room looked ok, and also your bathroom, unique hotel due to its age lots of history, pity the ghosts were on there night off !😮
