Stan Winston's Design for the 90's Godzilla

My dad was a HUGE Godzilla fan and we used to watch the movies together. He took me to the movies to see that Godzilla and I remember him being so disappointed. He’s long gone now, and when I miss him I watch the old Godzilla movies we shared.

Stan Winston has been and will always be the king of monster designs and it's a crime they didn't use his godzilla designs.

The Stan Winston design looks amazing. Imagine if Jan de Bont's Godzilla got made while Roland Emmerich's 1998 Godzilla was the Beast from 20000 Fathoms remake.

In a way, this Stan Winston design lives on through the 2014 Godzilla design.

There is another design that is hard to find but it's a version done by William Stout for the Godzilla King of the Monsters 3D. Look it up, he documents how he was invited on, did a full storyboard for the movie, made a pretty awesome Godzilla design that was going to be in full stop motion, and was approved so well that he was wanted quite badly to participate in a following film... Rodan.

Not only does Stan Winston’s design look like Godzilla, it’s respectful. The problem with the 1998 movie was Roland Emmerich wasn’t a Godzilla fan and if the movie had a director that was a fan, imagine how better the movie would’ve been.
