The idea of a police officer talking about accountability when they have qualified immunity is just so rich.

Listening to a police chief talk about accountability considering the lack of accountability for law enforcement is just hypocritical. It's not about safety and protecting the public. It's all about the revenue. It's also about justifying and keeping the law enforcement/legal system propped up.

so what happens to cops when they break the law and nothing is done about it. what message are we saying to them and accountability.

No victim; no crime. It's all about the $$.

What about accountability from the police themselves. We NEVER see them account for bad cops or their mistakes.

It has never been about safety, it has always been about revenue. A traffic ticket is multiplied 400% or more and that money goes to the city that writes the ticket.

I like how its always accountability for citizens, but never ever for those that need to be held accountable and to the great proclaimed standard we hardly ever see. Copsplaining this crap won't make it more believing... if you don't have accountability for those in position, don't expect it from those without a position.

there just mad cause it gives them less power to violate peoples rights.period!

This chief seriously needs to look in the mirror. Nobody breaks traffic laws more than cops. Their logic is " I have to break the law to enforce the law ".

In the same county the mayor of Kansas City says there is no room for arrestees. But this chief says we need to arrest non violent misdemeanors? These officials in this county need to communicate with one another. This all happened on the same newscast as well. What a joke

Police don't make laws. They also don't represent people. So I think that they just need to shut up and do whatever the lawmakers, on the people's behalf, decide.

Why is the only consequence jail? There are plenty of punishments that can be done short of jail. You can suspend the license, ban any registration of vehicles owned by the offender, notify the insurance company who covers the offending vehicle, garnish wages, seize assets, ban the offender from purchasing a new vehicle, etc. Eventually something will annoy the offender enough to pay the ticket.

Maybe they should stop bothering people about victimless crimes.

And what the hell is going on with Malik. Every time he talks it's like he's interviewing for a high school theater club

So does he feel the same about consequences for police officers who violate the rights of the people, and or when his officers break the law in their duties, or this just for the none Blue Lives.

Why is the chief trying to make criminals out of simple traffic violations?

A cop talking about accountability and consequences for your actions ??? When a cop does something wrong, they try and hide behind qualified immunity, investigating themselves, and district attorneys that won't charge them. Cops talking about accountability is about as hypocritical as it gets.

Cops have certain immunities but I don't. *Therefore, I am held to a higher standard than a cop.*

God forbid cops can't drag people out of a car and throw them in a cage for not being able to pay for a sticker or something😂

I would like to read the bill in its entirety. If gets rid of bench warrants for non-appearance, but does it rid of points on driver's licenses? Does it get rid of ...or make it easier for unpaid tickets to screw with credit history? How will it loom in an employer's background check upon the consideration of a new job candidate? Remember when many people thought what they posted on social media...could never be used against them for getting a job, an apartment...credit card...etc...It has become standard practice now for employers to include social networking reviews in the potential hire's background checks. Agree or not... that's okay. But, if someone thinks that they will never have to worry about a traffic ticket again...might want to think twice because we live in a petty, vengeful society and it still could come back and kick you where it hurts.

But then they have absolutely NO accountability
