This poor lathe, when it was shinny and new it had all kinds of hopes and dreams. It would make all kinds of beautiful turned projects. Bowls, table legs, maybe even a candle stick or two. Then Peter bought it.... and it makes thousands of people simile instead.

This makes me wonder, can you use the laser engraving machine to cut a specific profile of an object spinning on the lathe? Ive seen waterjet channel try something similar, but don't think ive ever seen anything done with hobby lathe and laser engraver.

I did, however, watch a guy give himself a laser branding on his forearm once using a much stronger laser, and it looked like he got an inkless tattoo in just under 2 seconds flat. I wouldn't recommend that, but I'd definitely like to see laser lathe-ing if its even possible...

Love it! Sadly way down on my tool purchase list. I use paper labels on my shelves to show where books go, I would love to laser engrave metal tags for the shelves. I used to use metal letter punches but like more or less everyone I can't get them lined up perfectly.

I realize the lathe is just for art and fun projects.... but as a machinist - this made my sphincter pucker watching you engrave the ways. I know it shouldn't effect the main plane of the surface, but it still just feels wrong...

Like sticking your tongue to a 9v battery despite being in a moving vehicle and having braces on both top and bottom teeth.... You know it's not the best idea, but you do it anyway 😂
