How to Make Vacuum Pump and Vacuum Chamber

Learn how to make vacuum pump and vacuum chamber using 50 ml syringe , 500 g Mason Jar and 3 one way bicycle tube valve (Schrader or Presta valves or Dunlop valve). Almost material you can find from home or junkyard.

Very nice setup. For those that don't want to build it, mityvac mva6005 is a fluid evacuation kit is about $16. Just add a automotive style hand vacuum pump. Better yet just hook the vacuum hose to a vacuum source on your car, start it up and suck out any fluid quickly. Just pull the hose before the bottle fills completely to avoid sucking the fluid in the intake side of the engine. Works great for emptying the brake fluid reservoir quickly.

I'm making a similar vacuum pump, but I don't have such valves. Instead, I cast silicone disks on slippery paper, greased with edible oil to help release them. After putting on a flat surface (metal, plastic) with a hole on it's center and some case around, it would pass air in one direction. I need it because I started making a small, candle-powered adsorption refrigerator using water and desiccant beads - so partial vacuum is needed to lower water's boiling point (below room temperature, maybe even below 0 Celsius). Next one will be an absorption fridge - with water and calcium chloride.
