Tommy is a huge talent and such a humble guy. He's always willing to share his knowledge and himself. Live, he's a monster.

Tony, this is still one of my favorite interviews you have ever done.

My first guitar at age 12 in 1967 was a Maton CW80/12 -- meaning a Country and Western 12 string. Big sound! Played folky stuff and sang in bistros for pocket money.

My second guitar at age 15 was a Maton Fyrebird, a solid body electric with a Bigsby tremolo arm. Pretty cool for a teenage boy to play pop and rock covers in mates' garages.

Good on you Acoustic Letter for promoting and talking about a brand that you don't carry. Shows a real dedication and respect for the artform. I play a '78 Maton FG100 and it's a killer guitar!

These two guitarists have knowledge, skill and grace on their offices: talking or playing his beloved guitar. Really good. Otamar de Carvalho, Brasília, DF, Brazil

When Tommy says the back of his guitar is made of maple, that's not the same family of woods most Europeans/Americans would recognise as maple. We would classify Queensland Maple as an Acacia, sonically its closer to Koa than European maple.

A wonderful interview with Tommy Emmanuel. His character is as vibrant as his guitar playing. He makes it easy for Tony because he has so much to share.

We went to see Clapton at the Sydney Entertainment in the 1980s and guess who opened for him? It was Tommy and he blew Eric off. He was on an acoustic all alone and he was bloody amazing. He certainly hit me over the head that night.

Saw Tommy live a couple years ago, he mesmerized every person in there for nearly 2 hours with just him and a guitar.

I love that these principles are applicable any level/genre of performer. The man's a genius in every sense of the word.
