Here you are watching possibly the best drum solo of all time by 71-year-old drummer Carl Palmer on January 30, 2022, at the Ft. Lauderdale, FL Broward Theater of Performing Arts, Carl Palmer is still kicking butt and taking names. He opened as Palmer's ELP Legacy for Alan Parsons Live Project, replacing Yes, as the show had been delayed nearly 2 years due to the C-O-V-I=D.

His drum solo here is the ending for the song Fanfare For The Common Man. Carl Palmer is world-renowned as one of the best drummers of our time, heavily influenced by Buddy Rich, who was considered by many as the best drummer of all time. Carl Palmer rose to fame as the drummer for Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and later for ASIA. Carl Palmer rose up in a generation of drumming greats such as Neil Peart from Rush, and Bill Bruford, from Yes, and Alan White, also of Yes.

Carl Palmer laughs at age he is beyond immortal. Every time he performs it's nothing short of jaw-dropping.

A true force of nature! Never got to see ELP in their prime but was hanging on the fence at a gig a few years back at Northern Kin Festival, Durham. This gent blew me away with his energy and skills. And to have two young guys who can replicate every tune on strings was incredible to me. In his 70's now? Wtf. X

OH I JUST found an old live performance of ELP from back in the 70s. Amazing enough but then had to look up the band. So sorry to find out Emmerson And Lake are gone. Then I found this. My oh my. I JUST took up drums myself not even a year ago. This is truly amazing.

He’s using his Carl Palmer signature Venus “ piccolo” snare. I have one!

Carl is the real thing. In my judgment he really is the best drummer; certainly the best drummer still alive

I would include in my top drummers the likes of Buddy Rich, Levon Helm and Mick Fleetwood.

If he continues to practice, he might be a fraction as good as Neil Peart

is impresionant, no one like him. A powerful drummer, the age remains untouchable for him. it feels the same spirit like ELP on 70's

John Bonham, Neil Peart in that order

Too much of the same going on here, I’m only impressed with his age and stamina. But of course he’s good… but Neil Peart was so much better and way more inventive with his solos.
