NEW CODEX: Adeptus Custodes - 10 things you need to know!

Thanks Games Workshop for sending along the book and kits to review. Today I chat with my excellent patrons about the new Adeptus Custodes!

Heres my example armylist:

Custodes Battalion (Min Cost 748 w/ 2x Shield Caps and 3x 3 Custodians w/ Spears)

Assumed Purchases (Trajaan, 3x Custodes Boxes, Vertus Praetors, Allarus Custodes, Contemptor = $485 Retail incl. Codex).

HQ - Trajaan, Shield-Captain w/ Spear
TROOPS - 4 x 3 Custodians w/ Guardian Spears
ELITES - 2x Vexillia Praetor w/ Spears, Contemptor MultiMelta, 3 Allarus Terminators w/ Axes
FAST - 3 Vertus Praetors w/ Assault Launchers

MODELS - 23
TOTAL 1999pts

Great stream bud. Hit some very good points about the book. One thing I would say is that you shout on about Shield-Captains but personally I don't think they're worth taking compared to the ones on bikes, due to the fact that they're near enough the same points for a lot of killy haha.

The kids coming in at the end was hilarious. Keep up the awesome :)

As somebody that played a lot of pure deathwing in 3rd and 4th ed I'm kinda excited about this, it all feels very familiar. I had already been thinking of using deathwing termies as counts-as Custodes, but the models are so sweet I'll probably just make a new army of them nd the deathwing will remain in a box in my closet like they have for a few editions now.

Hmmm...three shield captains on bikes as a command detachment. Vexilaries in teleport strike. Just dash across the table, teleporting in Vexes where they're most needed.

I'm so excited. Already have 50 Custodes so far. Gonna add 20 termis, 20 wardens and 10 bikes. Then there'll be a good amount of misc captains, flags n' all that good stuff.

Custodes basically have a rule called "you don't fail to hit"

Now that the Wardens are out, they're a better kit for Characters. The Shield Captain and Vexilla look so much better that way. And you still have a 3-man squad of Wardens left.
Also, 3 squads of 4 Guards each is better - stratagems go farther and yes, one shield per squad to tank is not a bad idea.

Custodes will be Uber bad in small games. But with guards crazy and I bet when Sisters of Silence codex comes out this will be the new everyone will be playing army.

Custodes have a stratagem similar to CSM VotLW so Trjaan can wound anything on 2+ in melee.

The cheapest Vexila Praetor is 112 points, not 90 points. 80 for the character, 20 for the standard, and 12 for the spear.
