Girona have been the surprise package of the 2023/24 football season so far. And they are still going strong.

Barcelona and Real Madrid can't compete and only Real Madrid can keep pace.

How did this happen and how long will this last?

Man, I was hoping to see Girona win the title and now you do this video. It was quite the run but well, all the best for Girona in mid-table now 😔

While I’m not a fan of multi-club ownership since it’s basically a cheat code for loans and transfers for players they would never be able to get otherwise, this has got to be really cool for people from Girona and fans in Spain who want to see a breakup of the traditional big 3 at the top.

leverkusen, aston villa, girona, Fiorentina, Real Sociedad in UCL, Athletic Club Over Atletico Madrid in Laliga, Newcastle taking 4 points off PSG in ucl(Should have been 6), Brighton tormenting teams in the beginning of the season, West Ham doing fairly well, Stuttgart somehow on bundesliga top 4 so many underdog stories this season and I am all here for it

Crazy if you consider that Alex Garcia played 3, 5 years ago in Romania in a team which battle with relegation, and now he plays for Spains national team. What a rise!

People comparing this to Leicester season, this team is way better(No disrespect to Leicester). They are playing way better. Beautiful football. Great management. Going to be spoken for generations, doesn't matter if they go all the way or not.

Its been dope seeing them come into the race.

Coz the funny thing is that theyve been one of the most entertaining teams in the league for two seasons now (onky behind Real Sociedad, Rayo Vallecano and this new free scoring version of Atléti) but it finally came together to bring them into the conversation of those European slots.

Will be interesting to see how it all ends. Coz again as much as the fairytale is going on i hope the City group dont rip them up a bit coz the City group controls some of those loan players that Girona has access to.

So the best case scenario is City let's them buy the players outright but worst case scenario is that some of those players get cashed in on and then Michel is gonna have to retool and start again.

But regardless what happens i think they will be fine coz i remember i was so worried about Rayo Vallecano after they lost Andoni Iraola to Bournemouth but they have managed to stay relatively safe so as long as Girona keep Michel they should also be fine 👊🏿🙏🏿

Great coverage as always 🫡👊🏿

It’s insane that their record transfer is still less than €8 million!!

This season has been absolutely mental. Aston Villa in 2nd place, Bayer Leverkusen top of the Bundesliga and Girona being 2nd in La Liga

Glad to see you get around to making this video. The fans and the city deserve the recognition along with the players and coach. Just another excellent video from you showcasing the past, present, and future of a club.

For context for the size of the city compared to those in England, it hangs around the likes of Rochdale, Bath, and Oldham. All of those places have football teams which are in the national leagues. Crazy what good connections and money can do for a club.

Very much dont agree with the City group model as it feels like an unfair advantage for any club in it to be basically handed Man City youth talent and extras, along with heaps of cash to propel them to the top despite having no business being there. I understand there are other clubs that have good relationships with other clubs and do a lot of business, but this level of monopolisation of football is very dangerous to the integrity and fairness of the game imo

I must add also that its great to see smaller clubs competing at the top, but it feels tainted by having their pockets stuffed by the City group. They are no longer an authentic small club, they have big club money, respources and connections whilst pretending to be the underdog.

Past year or so is showing some crazy changeups in the sport. Asia and Africa making new strides in international football, Leverkusen in Bundesliga, the prem this year looks like the most competitive its been in a while, and of course Girona.

We played these during pre season (Blackburn fan) and it worried us massively as they were amazing. Now it makes massive sense as they are flying. Made for a great game

Their football is what we all love to play freedom and creativity within order not some dinosaur coach being stubborn with there outdated views and there is still control and balance within the team

Best part of this is it makes La Liga more interesting. It won’t just be Real Madrid and Barcelona anymore. ❤
