When a wealthy young man asked Jesus what he needed to do to enter God’s kingdom, Christ gave a surprising response. Today, R.C. Sproul continues his series in the gospel of Luke with a sermon on the depth of our sin and our need for God’s grace.

"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9

From my understanding of reading about the Rich Young ruler is he asked Jesus the author of what it is to be righteous and good what must I do that was certainly the wrong thing for the Rich Young ruler to ask Jesus what must I do there's nothing I can do maybe the Rich Young ruler could do something but there's nothing I can do.
For one thing I'm not a rich person I'm a disabled and I don't ask Jesus what must I do in order to actuate things in my life that deal with eternal life.

His answer should have been "Because you are God"

I believe that the rich young ruler was saved and the reason he walked away sorrowful was that he had to give his wealth away. Because his wealth was like a God to him ie the love of money is the root of all evil. The reason I say the rich young ruler was saved is this, Jesus is God and God does not change he is the unchangeable God & Gods love does not change. Therefore when God loves someone he loved them before the foundation of the world. So in marks narrative of this passage Mark 10:21 we read, Then Jesus beholding him loved him KJV. Jesus loved the young man & has loved him from all eternity just as he loves all his children and went to Calvary’s tree and die for their sins. The elect of God.
