Torment and Toreros is one of the best albums in history. It’s a little uncategorizable gem; suspended out of time and space; gifted to us by the gods of art. A theatrical, psychedelic, beating pastiche that first hypnotizes you and then delivers you in the middle of a chaotic Corrida fever dream, inducing, at once, sorrow, surrender, elation and transcendence. And Marc. Marc is the psychopomp guiding us through the underworld. Simply divine.

Can’t begin to explain how much this man and the album this came from meant to me as a 15 year old in 1983.

So lucky to see Marc almond quite a few times when I lived in London in the late '80's, still listen to him now & loved the Mambas period of his career & the great hairstyles

40 years ago and feels like yesterday. I remember Marc had a bad cold that day.

I have lots of recordings on VHS of Marc but by far his Mamba period and his look at that time influenced me immensely. God, you have to just love him!!

Goosebumps and memories... I saw Marc live in around 1986 in Munich. 🖤🕷️🕸️🌌 This is my favorite from Marc and the Mambas. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤Black heart🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤.. almost forgot that I saw Marc Almond, Boy George, 2 of Spandau Ballet and the singer of Dexy's Midnight Runners leaning at the Bar at Camden Palace (Steve Strange's Club) in London. I was 17 (1982) and the entrance fee was very expensive for us (maybe 30€ today). All of this was so overwhelming. ❤

I was lucky to see in Tel aviv. I was only 15 and had to leave in the middle for the last bus.

Note in the back Martin McCarrick on cello and his sister Virginia Hewes aka Gini Ball (married to Dave Ball at the time) on violin who are all over Siouxsie & The Banshees, This Mortal Coil and lots of other of the most interesting music from the era.

My wife and I love this genre. My son who is twelve now came up to us one day at age 5 hearing this song playing said, “I remember hearing this song in mom’s tummy” POWERFUL!

¡Ole sus cojones! I am Spanish, clear influence from the traditional music of my country mixed with new wave and 80s paranoia, a genius, a poet, to be known only by Tainted Love is sacrilege, he has so many tremendous songs, a poet from the modern times, ¡de puta madre!
