Medium Build - 'Crying Over U' - Acme Radio Session

Medium Build, solo project of songwriter and now local Nashvillian Nick Carpenter, has been on our radar for a while now (we first heard his music via 2019's Wild). Earlier this year, Carpenter released his most ambitious and realized work to date with Country.

Spanning 12 tracks and coming in at just under 37 minutes, the record covers a surprisingly large amount of ground, from polished indie-rockers (see "In My Room" and "Known by None"), to the raw and emotive "Hey Sandra," which strips everything back to acoustic guitar and ambient pads while showcasing the impressive dynamism of Carpenter's songwriting.

The writing itself isn't the only notable feature of Medium Build's music, as the vocal performances found throughout the latest release showcase an innate ability to harness emotional intensity in a way that's both expressive and dramatic.
