Former enlisted guy failed at civilian life. Thought that accepting being cannon fodder for Puppetlesky was a good idea. He was wrong

Men like this aren't easy to replace, even with the best combat drones which don't have instinct to not be deceived.

I think this generation of soldiers are not trained to fighting artillery. For the last 30 years western forces have fought asymmetric forces who did not have the capability that Russia has. I watched a few videos of soldiers who fought in the legion and they said it’s a completely different ball game from what they experienced in Iraq, Afghanistan etc.

Many western citizens getting directly involved in this conflict need to understand that Wagner or the Russian armed forces don't play Call of duty, this man could have better served his country of birth by volunteering to protect the southern border in preventing illegal immigrants and opioid narcotics from pouring in and destroying American communities.

Dumb to die for your leaders even dumber to die for someone else’s leaders. 🤷‍♂️

R.I.P. he survived 20 years fighting in our Army with other gighly trained soldiers and as a Green Beret. It's sad he didn't survive this war which is not even our fight, instead of enjoying the rest of his life and freedoms he fought for. I understand as a elite soldier for soo long he felt like he had a duty to fight again but our soldiers deserve to be supported enough that he doesn't have to fight anymore. I'm sure he was doing wjar he loved and at least he went out that way, hope it was painless and he didn't suffer for long.

These Shorts have been popping up left and right, so I'll finally comment on one. I did just over two decades in the US Army. Despite being Infantry and primed for the fight during the Invasion of Iraq in 2003, I let my subsequent career take me where it went. Ten years later, my second and final combat deployment saw me piloting a desk in Afghanistan.

I'm retired now, permanently disabled but still fairly able-bodied. I often think about volunteering for something bigger than myself once again, donning a uniform, and making a difference. There's no way in hell I'm volunteering to fight in a distant country for a cause that doesn't affect me or my loved ones. Police officer, firefighter, Coast Guard Auxiliary, and so on are all much safer and allow us "used-to-be" types to help our communities and nation.

We get one life. If we serve our nation and die during that service, we are hailed as heroes by most, regardless of sentiment about the war(s) we fought in. If we serve our nation, then decide to serve another nation, we are at best propagandized and remembered by a circle of family and friends that knew us. There will be no "Nick Haimer Education Center", no "Maimer Mile" PT event, no posthumous US military decorations or official recognition. We don't fight and die for recognition, but it's often given to those of us who sacrifice self for country. Sacrificing self for another country is admirable, but let's face it, our home country will not view that sacrifice in the same light as the adoptive country. Maybe Ukraine has honored Maimer's legacy. In the US, he's just another dead guy that's off the Retiree roster.

A far better-known example of this would be Larry Alan Thorne (Lauri Törni). He died while serving as a US Special Forces Soldier in Vietnam, having previously served in the Finnish Army and the Waffen-SS. Those previous services (of course, the SS was dissolved after WWII) probably considered him a footnote in history, while we Americans hold him up as an example of heroism.

Those who fight for Ukraine are international volunteers, and those for Russia are mercenaries!?Ukraine and democracy in the same sentence???!!

He was a mercenary too. It seems a lot of vets think this war is the same as the ones in the middle east and they will fight inequipt enemies .
