There are a lot of tails about the SST gearbox, installed to the 4b11T Evo X and Ralliart. So today I try and share with you some of the information I have picked up on the clubs in the past few years.

Good vid...its the same old story....what people dont understand...they bag. Or any new tech they dont understand...they bag...the SST is a great box...but like anything else, you have to look after it.

My SST just turned over 196, 000 miles - or 315, 000ish km. The car has always been completely stock. I think its a remarkable gearbox, and its refreshing to see your content about it. I just got PassThru Can working based on one of your older videos on Teach-in. Thanks for sharing, and please keep the content coming! Instead of building around the power, I plan to let Jack's Transmissions over here in the states rebuild/upgrade it. It is certainly due for a full overhaul anyway. But it still operates flawlessly, so I just haven't been in a hurry. I am still learning about the SST, but so far, I agree with your assessment.

It’s just not the clutches you have to upgrade to make these boxes bulletproof, change the clutch forkes, and oil pressure seals upgrade to a 10 plate clutch if your going to rebuild the box, do it once do it right .
That’s what makes it expensive.

Don't be scared about the SST. Be scared about the AYC Pump. Get it as fast as possible in the trunk.

my guess from the gearbox name which is could handle 470nm of torque at standard configuration....usually around 346.6 ft/lb. 350whp seem nice number for this torque number i presume.

Just remember the most powerful official UK Evo was the Evo X FQ 440 using the SST box.

Even the Evo 7 GTA was able to handle big numbers & that was an old school torque converter box.

Getrag rates the DCT-470 @ 347 flbs torque. That's brake torque, not wheel torque.

I purchased a JDM 2009 SST Evo X at 80km milage. After 5k milage i had slip, not long after that i had a P1875: Damper speed sensor system (Poor performance) error on the dash. The repair was $7000NZD but lucky it had a warranty. I could not image needing to spend that on a manual box.

What's your thoughts on some evo MRs (in the US) that are being sold for 25-28k with 30k-50k miles?? Would you buy one and just service the SST and see how it does, or would you wanna have new clutch parts on standby bc that baby is gonna blow up? Lol. Really appreciate the videos. Great job

The gearbox went on mine today..built box, dodson clutches, forks, etc. 6k and still unreliable. To much to go wrong with these units. Avoid

Hey mate! Good video. To remove the clutch basket and therefore change clutch packs do you need to take the whole gearbox out of the car?

Also in the UK how is AutoTorque's rebuilds? Are they reliable? Are they recommended?

I'm based in Greece, Evo X stage 1 and although my SST is still fine (you can check out a dragy run on my channel) and I'm not going to mess with it, there isn't much know how on sst rebuilds here so I'm looking to prepare myself in case something goes tits up 😃😃
