Why are stability control, steering (wheel) and check engine lights all on at the same time?

We've covered stability control lights in a number of ways on the web and on video, but we continue to hear from drivers who are seeing one of these warning light variations, but alongside other warning lights. And this multiple light phenomenon is what we'll cover here. Why are stability control, steering (wheel) and check engine lights all on at the same time?

I was encountered with the engine and stability control of my 2012 Toyota Camry lights on yesterday. I tried to fixed it by myself and watched several YouTube videos. Most of them gave me wrong information or solutions. Lucky i watched your video and convinced by the way you presented. So, I run bdm and found out that the cause was from the spark plugs, So I bought from auto zone and changed it. walla ! Problem solved! One thing I would suggest other people watching your YouTube is that, they have to erase or maybe wait for a while before the light go away. For me after I changed the spark plugs the reader showed me that there is an electrical coil problem, however, after I erased the reading, somehow the light vanished. Thank you so much you saved one soul after 4 years you posted your video. 😅

Awesome! Super helpful. On way to work and freaking out about how screwed my Monday will be dealing w this. Pulled over, watch this video, checked the gas cap and it was dangling off! This morning at work will still suck but not because of the car! Thx!

THANK YOU for this very detailed information. I got all three of the lights on the night before I hosted a party for 45 at my home. Not having a car was not super helpful and I needed more information. Safely used the car for a 5 mile errand, hosted the event, care to the shop the next day!

You have no idea how much of a relief this video is! I've got a 2012 Scion XB and out of nowhere it started running badly and the check engine light and slip indicator was on too. I took it to a shop that said the number 3 cylinder is misfiring. I bought all new spark plugs and ignition coils and will install them tomorrow. I sure do hope that fixes all the issues. They had said the slip indicator was from possibly a faulty ABS sensor, but I think it's more what you say: that the engine running bad is messing it up. Again, thanks for the great info!!!

Thank you for this video. My 2008 Toyota Highlander is "sick" and needs it's rear electrical components fixed. YIKES! Over a thousand dollars to fix, but the car is still a baby at 145, 000 miles. I was just going to ignore it, but you emphasized having it checked out so I did. Not happy about the repair cost but better than buying a new car as a result of ignoring the warning lights.

After a oil change and about 5 miles my check engine light and vehicle stability control system turns on and I cannot accelerate past 40 mph. Before this my car was fine. What does this sound like to you?

Thanks so much for posting this. I just had my 2011 Toyota Tacoma in to have the front rotors turned 2 days ago, and this morning the chk engine and slip indicator came on. Don't know if this was a coincidence but went and checked the gas cap and was able to tighten it by a click or two. Since then I had stopped for gas, then drove 70 mi and the indicators were still lit at present. I'm wondering if the system needs longer to reset itself or perhaps do I need to disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset before purchasing a new gas cap? Thank again.

I have 2013 Honda CRV 73k miles

Check engine, traction control and power steering lights all came on.

It drives perfectly normal.

When I get gas and drive it a couple miles the lights will go off but will eventually come back on.

Been doing this for about 3 weeks.

I had a shop read the codes but I have read that might not be any of the issues and could be a easier fix that I could do myself any suggestions?

Most helpful, thanks! I have a Honda CRV 2014. The steering wheel light, slidy light, engine light, and tire pressure light came on but drives good. I have repairs happening on the sixth of April (got in a minor accident in January finally can fix it). Can I wait till then or get it in sooner at a different place just to check it first?
