The real magic is in you em. You are the reason for the little magic happening on paper. You are a very good artist thanks em for creating magic on paper and making us believe we can do it too❤

The different patches of salt and color were very helpful in determing how much water and pigment to use. Testing different kind of paper was interesting. Your approach to watercolour is very positive and kind of balanced. You striveto balance the elements giving your work great excellence. Thanks emma for alk the hard work you are putting to make ends meet❤

I live in New Mexico and it's dry here. I have had trouble with salt due to that. But, I am learning sooo much from you today. Thanks

Thank you so much for doing this tutorial. I couldn’t get mine to work either so this was helpful. I think this would be cute for a cherry blossom effect in February or spring. 🥰

LOVE this so much....maybe that lady was thinking about back wash technique, or waiting til damp ...you can flick water...can be fun to practice as well. In my art classes she used Kosher, but I liked your sea salt too!

Thank you for trying out the different methods. Interesting results! I used regular iodized table salt and got great results with slightly damp paper.

Thanks for the lesson with salt. My first attempt didn’t work well however I’m going to try again❤

Loved this tutorial. I will say that using the 100% cotton (Arches) made a huge difference for me. I originally tried the Canson XL and the salt just didn’t work on it for me. I live in Colorado where the humidity is very low, so it dries out super fast here, so that probably made a difference too. Thanks for taking the time to post this tutorial. I’ve been working my way thru your book and this was a nice break from ‘lessons’. 😁

Another factor is the size of the pigment particles in the paint. Paints with large pigment particles (like many natural pigment paints) don't react as readily to the salt as paints with smaller pigment sizes (many modern synthetic pigments). I think that's another reason the green paints didn't bloom as well, although I don't want to discount the effect of the paper either.

Wow! That turned out great! It's kind of like paint pouring.... you don't have a lot of control and might need to try a few times or have no expectations and just go for it 😁

That is such a cool technique. I've done it on silk.
