TLDR: it's kinda mid, expect to see an average of around 2000 armor upgrade points per quest. If you're low on armor spheres and just need that last level or 2 on your armor piece, farming this for 10 or so minutes could finish that off (and is cheaper/easier than smelting a bunch of materials you may need in the future, or want for smelting ores instead, in order to get armor spheres)

Overall, the Official LordViettner Verdict™ is: meh

I was UTTERLY disappointed with how little this quest gives ...

While I wasn't expecting a ton of spheres, the fact you can get Hunter Symbols, Tier 6 Artian parts AND Tempered Wound parts for melding makes this pretty good for people just finishing Low Rank needing that extra boost! We need to remember Vets aren't the focus this early in the game cycle so these event quests aren't going to be mind blowing.

Also, if you’re making sure to pop all the wounds you’re also getting bloodstones which can be used at the melder as well. If you take everything into account it’s actually decent. It might be a good quest to tinker with different weapons on to.

The game has just been around for a few weeks so I think easy event quests with moderate rewards are understandable

Never forget brute tigrex event quest in Iceborn where you’d get like 20+ armor spheres a quest, it’s just a tough harder than a chatacabra 😂

They will definitely add another one that gives more later in the year. A fast quest to get you to upgrade your armor some so the Gore you fight in a few hours doesn't one shot you.

I wouldn't know anything about that though i am professional.

This is for emergency upgrades to protect you from one shot from tempered apexes. Rarity 5-6 armors need much fewer points to upgrade also. The 5k+ armor upgrades you'll need to get the usual tempered apex investigation rewards to max out.

I basically use this quest to learn a new weapon with a moving target dummy, and get something out of it.

Wasn't a great farm but I did 40 ish runs just to max out the chatacabra titles. A few extra armor spheres were nice for it

As someone who came from world/iceborne I use the event quests to properly learn the monsters. They are usually harder then their normal counterparts and getting free armor upgrades for 2 minutes worth of fun is worth it to me.

i’m curious of one thing, do monsters in optional and event quests have their size fixed? or is it random so that you can be lucky and find a mini or great gold crown while farming a mission over and over again?

Honestly im just running it to have a metric shit-ton of symbol 1s with a little extra bonus of armour spheres. It is purely a utility hunt in my case.

I saved all my armor spheres until I got the high rank arkveld set and it's still not full upgraded even after 100+ hours. The grind is real. It'd be cool to have multiple upgraded armor sets for different weapon builds - we need a better sphere farm.

I’m glad this quest isn’t the end-all-be-all of armor spheres. The more quick ways to get to perfect equipment the less reason there is to keep hunting in the long term.
