Mike Heiser was my professor in college and one of the main reasons why I attended the small private college in southern Minnesota, which is now a monument to the states past. I miss Mike like so many of you. I have fond memories of getting up early in the morning and walking across the campus sometimes through 3 foot snow drifts just to be able to join my classmates in Old Testament survey, which was taught by this wonderful man. After I graduated, unfortunately, I lost touch with a great mentor. I blame myself because I’m not very good at keeping up with other people and then like so many other people I will get caught up in my own life. Seven years ago, I had an opportunity to comment on some archaeological research that Mike had done and to speak on behalf of the veracity of this great intellect that many of us could only enjoy and rejoice in God who created such a wonderful man when I knew I had a lovely wife and two sweet young daughters who are now adults themselves. I pray God‘s blessing on this man’s family all the days of their life, and all my fellow students who through the years have enjoyed and learned from this man’s understanding and love of scripture.

I’ve always had a hard time with pastors saying Ezekiel 38-39 is some Russian invasion. I’ve never felt like it was right in my heart. Michael Heiser really clears it up here.

I used to live next door to Dr. Yamauchi in Oxford, Ohio 20-ish years ago. It's neat to hear him brought up here. I had heard that he could "read the morning paper" in ancient languages. Met him once when I went to his house for a reason I can't even remember, I think to give him and his wife something from my grandma for a holiday or something. Never even considered possibly hearing him mentioned in a Michael Heiser video.

I miss him too. How paradoxical to have two fervent defenders of the Bible in heaven but diametrically opposed to the understanding of God and Magog . I am talking about Chuck Misler. Now they know the truth from God himself.

Gog, as in King Gog. MaGog, ma being a prefix in Arabic which denotes action. MaGog- the one doing the actions of Gog
MaGog seems to be ancestral relationship to Gog, king Gog, who was a giant.
