I want to say that this is better than the first, but I haven't seen the first in a while. That said though, John Wick 2 not only ramps up the action, but also makes clever use of world building to perfectly craft an interesting and entertaining mythology around this world of assassins. A lot of action films are style over substance, but in John Wick and John Wick 2 the style actually enhances the substance, and adds layers to the story. The calm, matter of fact way all of this is handled really goes to make this feel like a lived in world. Not to mention the character journey for John was great. He's dealing with the question of whether he can leave his assassin life behind or if the all-consuming culture of the assassin world is too powerful for him to escape. No matter how hard he tries he can't find peace and somehow, someway he always gets sucked back in. Great stuff. All in all this and the Lego Batman movie were great experiences and show why we love going to the movies.

Well Mr. Campia....you were sorta incorrect about the blood seal. If you watch carefully you would see that the reason he was asked to do this for the seal was because he unofficially came out of retirement to avenge his dog and get his car back. His actions stirred up news and the blood oath holder then came to acquire his services. Apparently apart of the blood oath conditions was to not kill again, Heinse the term take my word for it just watch the discussion scene again

kinda gave me an unwanted spoiler in the beginning about the marker... smmfh.. but it's not too big that it ruins the movie for me

the marker is not a spoiler... there was more he could have said to ruin it. I agree it was not as good as the 1st but maybe a step under but that's cause we expected nothing from the 1st one. on the plus side you loose track of the body count within minutes so just go with it lol
