I remember every rappers back in that era was putting out bangers and had their own style. Nowadays there are so many rappers that sound and look the same with LiL in front of their name.

Nelly is not in the top list of lyricists. But I’m telling you the album Country Grammar blew the summer up when it dropped.💯🔥

*He was in the greatest, most competitive era of hiphop... He wasn't one of the top 10 when it came to lyrics; BUT, he definitely brought something different to the game with Country Grammar and deserves a spot, at least in the top 20.. He put St. Louis on the map, for sure... He brought a different type of vibe; and, was also one of the one's who ventured out, when that wasn't even a thing, and started a successful clothing line... APPLE BOTTOM Jeans took over the clothing game, for curvy women, when it was popular to be skinny, he deserves his flowers...*

I don’t consider Nelly in the same category. He’s more of a pop star.

Nelly ain't lying. Everybody was competing for the top spot. So many artists were dropping hit singles and hit albums back to back.

The 90s! Death row, bad boy, ruthless records, Naz, no limit, Twista, and so on

90s and 80s was the toughest... You literally had to be good... 2000s you just needed fun songs... Back then you needed an actual message to move the crowd

Nelly knows how to write a hit song he didn’t need to be all that lyrical

It was the hardest because music from that time actually had to be good fk the sound cloud and tik tok eras 😅

For clarity, toughest era in Hip Hop from the business side, not artistry. 90’s takes the cake with the toughest competition in creativity and talent.

Nick Cannon is like my brother, says everything I need to know about Nelly.
