Vulnhub Thoth Tech: 1 vs Security Onion | Attack & Detect, Can we detect the attack?

I took the OSCP, and i am waiting for the results. Lets decompress and complete a simple machine, Thoth Tech:1 from vulnhub and look at how brute-force traffic looks like to an intrusion detection system.

We will learn how to use insecure ftp can expose information and lead to system compromise. We will also look at the attack traffic in security onion IDS and understand how detection works.
