Antropocentrism and speciesim

We condemn discrimination against humans, yet accept routine cruelty to animals. If humans were bred and killed for food it would clearly be unjust. When victims are animals, not humans, is their suffering less important?

Why should we have any regard for animals that have no care for us? It’s suicidal to put everyone on the same field as though they should all matter equally to us. Your children should matter more to you than some other child. Our duty of care is first to fellow human beings before anything outside of that category.
