Alpine subs are built to take it & also dish it out. The woofer cone is reinforced with Kevlar to make it strong while remaining lightweight, and the rubber surround, double-stacked magnets and a new motor structure ensure that these subs can pound out the low notes for years to come.

The subs are available in three sizes with your choice of dual 4-ohm or dual 2-ohm voice coils.

Just bought the dual 4ohm 12” alpine R2. Matched it with an 800watt amp wired at 2ohm. Im in love with these subs and sound ridiculously good. If you are looking in a great woofer thats worth your money, get these R series subs.

I literally just bought a type s 8 like a month ago. They didn't make the type r at that time :-( btw they need a lot of power, built a box to spec and I also have a 600 watt amp and it wouldn't get loud till I gave it a lot of power lol. It literally takes all the 600 watts!!!! Maybe I'm just use to bigger subs?? Idk but maybe I should have bought a square kicker 8. It's so hard to put sounds in a tacoma. Either way once you put some power to it it sounds super good and clean with no bottoming out, overheating or anything.

I tested Alpine R-W12D4 on a Groundshaker ported box and it definitely booms hard lows with hiphop or bass music with amazing sound quality i just ordered the second one to complete the pair. I also have the what i believe is the 4th Gen its rated 750-1000rms 500 per coil its Alpine SWR-12D2 bro this one hits hard pounding lows on my sealed groundshaker i have them wired to 2ohms. its odd because the new 2022 Alpine R2-W12D4 it went back to 750 rms but it claims it has a bigger coil and better control i haven't heard the new one but i always wondered if the Alpine SWR-12D2 is the bets one to date because of its 1000rms output.

I tried two of these in my ported box on my new ram 1500 with a cab-22 amp. Disappointed in how easily they clip at max rated power. I've been a big "type r" fan boy for 15 years and honestly alpine has fallen behind. I just picked up some SA classic 12s that are rated 750rms (same power) for about 70% of the price that these subs cost me and it was well worth the switch. I am putting 1000 rms to each sub and the difference in the lows is night and day. I will admit that these subs do really well for punchy style music (rock) but are underwhelming for rap style music.

Hi, between hertz mps250 s2 and alpine r2w10d4 what do you think sounds better mounted in a sealed enclosure ?

My problem with this combo was at 4ohm only 500 watts is coming from that amp I'd be leaving 250 watts on the table and that's bs what's the point I'd have to run at 2ohm which is more punchier for sure but not as accurate

Bought the 10” DVC 2Ohm version the other week to go in my daily - struggling to find the grille for this model/ generation of sub that works with the EZ ring though?

I am in the UK if that makes a difference on finding the grilles over here

which sub would you recomend to pair with a ILX-F509 unit? I drive a double cab 2019 taco (it didn't have the JBL system)... would i also need an amp? if so which will be your best suggestion
