One of my favourite things to do in order to learn a bass line exactly as the track is to play on top of the tune with my bass volume switched off cause them you focus on what the player’s playing instead on what I’m playing.

This is very true...Ive been in a lot of house/club bands as well as studio work. Bass players are very few where i live so i had to play multi genres correctly....jazz, blues, cw, funk classic rock ect....
