3:20 My thoughts? Torches and pitchforks is what I think. First W&N discontinue PY40 and PG18, then they create a set made of run-of-the-mill modern pigments, and to add insult to injury, they have the audacity of naming it a revival set. The nerve they’ve got! I want PY40 and PG18. I haven’t bought W&N paints yet and PY40 and PG18 (specifically the W&N versions) were integral paints to the collection that I had in mind, but now I can’t get them. GRRRR 😡.

I'm glad they're open stock, the ultramarine ash is going on my wishlist.

The purple blew me away. How can it be that vibrant. Amazing! Thank you for this video 🙂

Thanks for the review and swatching out this set! I ordered the other two colors and agree on the yellow individual Aureolin Hue tube and also like the Tyrian purple as well as the bright orange (like Roman Szmal's Brilliant Orange!) Got them for collecting purposes and agree they don't feel like a standalone set but fun to explore nonetheless. I have lapis ashes from Della Magna and so was prepared for the ultramarine ashes and agree wish they had included Lapis Lazuli. I also want a red (Cinnabar red hue?). Interesting grey's; PBk19 is great for urban landscapes with Stoneground Co's Titanium Grey.

So great to see a video from you!! It was so lovely to see you swatch these. I'm safe from most W&N paints but I'm sure they have many collectors who will love these. Stephanie Davis 💗

I can't tell you yet what my favourite is. I haven't swatched mine yet but I can't wait to do that as I've been really curious about these colours. To me, this looks like a good add-on to an existing palette. I'm not sure I wanted to use only these colours for a painting, but I suppose it depends on the subject.

I've seen many reviews on this set and the ultramarine ash always steals my heart 💙

I would TOTALLY buy this set! I can think of all kinds of interesting things to paint with that as a standalone palette!!!! I love interesting colors and colors you wouldn't think to pair for paintings. Also, I'm glad that they don't have the Aureolin and Viridian substitutes in the set with the tubes. I personally have real Viridian by several brands which I prefer to the "hues" because of it's tinting strength and the way it behaves. The "hues" are just too bright or are just off. Same with the Aureolin. I have real Aureolin (yes it's a cobalt so it's toxic but I don't care) and I prefer it to the substitutes. BTW, the swatch they show of the Aureolin hue kinda looks like DS Chrome Titanate yellow, but doesn't remind me of real Aureolin at all.

Omg! I am in love with those colors. They need larger tubes in mineral gray and ultramarine ash. I feel that these can be added to a palette to help increase granulation. I unknowingly in the beginning bought more non granulating colors and have been searching for a way to boost them, without buying a niche set of colors. I think the Schmincke granulation spray has no control, I don’t want to spray my whole picture. Currently my fix is to buy some calcium carbonate and mars black or lunar black.

Ultramarine Ash is pretty. Surprisingly, I like the orange a lot (orange isn't normally my favorite color, only in the fall, lol )😄

Oh yay! Happy mail tier ❤❤❤

Loving both of the greys, that blue though, I wasn’t expecting it to be quite that delicate.

I think the purple was my favourite colour too!

Thinking of tiny tiny little delicate blue flowers for the Ultramarine Ash. Mix that green with the grey for the stems....

I'm actually the exact kind of person you describe- I love the history of pigments and paints, and being able to see the colors as they were used by the artists of the past. I especially love Winslow Homer, so both the Ultramarine Ash and the Mineral Grey immediately leapt out at me. I can definitely see both of those colors in his tropical works (my favorites!) I've had this set in my Amazon cart for several weeks, and even though the price isn't too bad for 6 W/N tubes ($37.79 right now), it's still pretty high for colors I could mix myself. But still, the history! Seems a shame to not get the full range (6+2 in the tubes) as long as I'm already thinking of getting some of them anyway, you know...? I much prefer tubes to pans, but that's just me. I pulled out all my gouache sets recently and W/N seems to be the most popular among YouTube artists. I discovered that I'm lacking many of the colors I really "need." Wish the Revival paints came in a gouache set, but then I'd lose the beautiful transparency of that blue and that grey in the watercolors! Too "Homer-esque" to pass up! Love that pure orange, too. So vibrant and clean, like you said! Could definitely fit it into a tropical boat/island scene (Boats and Bouganvillas?) Deci$ion$, deci$ion$...
Thank you for the excellent video!
