Firestarter - Official Trailer
In Theaters & Streaming only on Peacock May 13

In a new adaptation of Stephen King’s classic thriller from the producers of The Invisible Man, a girl with extraordinary pyrokinetic powers fights to protect her family and herself from sinister forces that seek to capture and control her.

For more than a decade, parents Andy (Zac Efron; Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile; The Greatest Showman) and Vicky (Sydney Lemmon; Fear the Walking Dead, Succession) have been on the run, desperate to hide their daughter Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong; American Horror Story: Double Feature, The Tomorrow War) from a shadowy federal agency that wants to harness her unprecedented gift for creating fire into a weapon of mass destruction.

Andy has taught Charlie how to defuse her power, which is triggered by anger or pain. But as Charlie turns 11, the fire becomes harder and harder to control. After an incident reveals the family’s location, a mysterious operative (Michael Greyeyes; Wild Indian, Rutherford Falls) is deployed to hunt down the family and seize Charlie once and for all. Charlie has other plans.

The film also stars Kurtwood Smith (Amityville: The Awakening, Hitchcock), John Beasley (The Purge: Anarchy, The Sum of All Fears) and Gloria Reuben (Lincoln, Mr. Robot). The Firestarter score is composed by the legendary John Carpenter (Halloween, Christine, The Fog) and his fellow Halloween franchise composers Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.

Directed by Keith Thomas (The Vigil), from a screenplay by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills) based on the novel by Stephen King, Firestarter is produced by Jason Blum (Halloween, The Invisible Man) for Blumhouse and Oscar® winner Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend, Constantine) for Weed Road Pictures. The film’s executive producers are Ryan Turek, Gregory Lessans, Scott Teems, Martha De Laurentiis, J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules.

You know you're old, when you see Zac starts playing father roles.

I can’t believe Zac Efron is old enough that he can start playing “mature aged”/“age appropriate” father Roles 😭😭😱😱 lol but this looks so friggging good
(Edited to add “mature aged” and “age appropriate”because some people are idiots and don’t seem to understand what I’m saying)

Just to clarify cause people seem to be confused i’m not saying that it’s weird to see him be a dad If you read my comment I never said that it was weird I think it’s really cool that he is now in movies where he plays a dad I think it’s really fun I love when my favourite actresses and actors play parents especially if they don’t have kids themselves you get to see a different side of them come out thanks for all the likes and comments tho This is my most popular comment ever

Zac Efron has evolve overtime. From Disney pretty boy to party boy comedy movies now he has the opportunity to do mature roles for the foreseeable future🔥🔥

Happy for Zac Efron, love seeing him playing more mature roles, he's a good age now to be playing a father.

I like it. Seems to be tapping into a darker side that Drew Barrymore’s never really did. This girl’s acting looks amazing.

This little girl was AMAZING in “American Horror Story: Red Tide!” I’m going to see it just because of her.

The older rendition of "Firestarter" was already enormously engaging. Drew Barrymore blew me away with her acting as Charlie like she did at that tender young age.

The fact that they got John Carpenter & Co. to do the score is WILD to me. And just goes to show you that Blumhouse is truly a production house that is by the fans & for the fans. Anyone not familiar with the backstory behind the original Firestarter movie and John Carpenter’s “almost” involvement should go check it out. Screenrant has an excellent write-up on it. John Carpenter’s involvement in this is truly a very cool moment in the name of MOVIE JUSTICE. Happy to see Blumhouse made this happen !

I would love to see Drew Barrymore in a cameo role in this, but even if she doesn’t show up, the movie still looks decent!

I’m so glad that Ryan Kiera Armstrong (the girl who plays Charlie) is getting more spotlight as a young actress! Loved her in “Anne with an E” and to think that this will be her second Stephen King film is so cool! (She played Vicky in “It, Chapter 2)

I always wondered if Carrie and Charlie were related. In the book Carrie’s power is genetic, present in both her parents but recessive in her mother Carrie‘s grandmother was described as being a fire starter and I always wondered if telekinesis and Pyrokinesis were connected to the same gene pool that came from Carrie‘s family and Charlie’s

It’s honor to see Zac as a father. Go Zac

2 things I want in this.
1. A cameo by Drew Barrymore.
2. A cover of the Prodigy’s Firestarter if not the original song playing in the end credits.

I remember this being the first book I read by Stephen King when I was 13, then I rented the video from the library and Drew Barrymore, who is my same age, was Charlie and she was perfect for the role. I’m glad this is being re-made.

This does look good.

You ever notice how some of these trailers damn near play enough key scenes that you almost know the whole film just by watching the trailer?
