That place looks way too clean for snakes to came away from afar, through the main door and then to climb on those slippery pillars, right to the top of the icon. They are also quite small in size, so its even harder. But there is more, why are snakes all of a sudden used as some sort of miracle, when they are considered the channel of evil in christianity?
