The goal of the minicourse will be to introduce the participants to the subject chromatic homotopy theory. This lecture series will require some familiarity with the stable homotopy category.
I will first introduce some of the key players in chromatic homotopy theory, the Morava K-theories and the Morava E-theories. I'll discuss the relationship between the Morava K-theories and the Balmer spectrum of the stable homotopy category, motivate why homotopy theorists are interested in studying the K(n)-local categories, and discuss the role of E-theory and group cohomology in studying these categories.

This video is part of a series of lectures during the HIM Summer School "Spectral methods in algebra, geometry, and topology"
