This was my great-grandfather's favorite song! This was the last song he listened to before shipping off with the 420nd Infantry Division in 1917. He saw action at the St. Shaudi Offensive and the Battle of The Club (1918). He brought back home a pair of captured apple bottom jeans and boots with fur from a German officer. He said how he much preferred wearing those boots in the trenches, as his issued Reeboks, With Straps were never good enough to stop mud from seeping in.

Let us honour those who hit the flo' on the fields of battle, never again to return to their big booty shawties.

I remember listening to this song before we were shipped off for the Somme. A Shawty for every Doughboy.

Ah, I honestly love this so much! Let's never stop making these until there's one for every song in human existence, then we can send them off to space on the next Voyager.

I remember I used to put this on for old man Winston.

My parents made me go over and now his lawn, do minor cleaning. Stuff he had a hard time with after his wife passed.

He had trouble with the record player, so I started helping him set up his records. It gave him one more thing to look forward to with my visits.

He was a little senile but you could tell his mind was clicking again when he heard this song. Memories of childhood, the war, old friends long gone.

He passed away about a year or so ago, but I’ll never forget the last thing he said to me “get a shawty that will give that big booty a smack”

Our boys used to play this before going over the top. It really scared the hell out of Jerry.

And here I thought all these years that it was made by Louis Armstrong!

In Flanders clubs, out on the floor
When I thought she could do no more
She smacked that booty, next thing I know
Shorty bent herself from head to toe
Shorty got low, Shorty got low
In Flanders clubs.

We used to be a country, a proper country. I am not even that patriotic, but this definitely makes me want to fight for the red, white and blue. Hoorah!

ALERT: This is NOT a song by George M. Cohan. As you can see if you search for "Apple Bottom Jeans" on YouTube, this is a spoof/gag wherein major artists -- from Elvis to Abba to Louis Armstrong (and now Cohan) -- are shown to be singing these same lyrics to different melodies. That's all in fun, no problem -- but let's just be clear that Cohan himself is not associated with this recording (other than the instrumental tune, which he did compose -- presented here in a fun, jazzy arrangement).
